Especially important for milk beverages: product safety with PET bottles

Milk, mixed milk and yoghurt beverages are very sensitive products. In order that you can package, store and transport these safely, choosing the right container plays an even greater role than with many other beverages and foods. A suitable receptacle should have the best possible aseptic and hygienic properties and protect the product against external influences for as long as possible. Our high-quality PET products provide ideal conditions in this respect as PET gives you various options as to how you can best cater for the particular physical properties and microbiological sensitivity of your products.

For example, you can use a gas barrier to protect products with a high vitamin content or a high percentage of omega-3 or omega-6 fatty acids which need an especially strong barrier against oxygen. Such products include ready-to-feed baby milk.

You can also integrate a light barrier into your PET packaging to avoid unwanted reactions which can be triggered by light in milk products. An UV barrier – sometimes in combination with an oxygen barrier – prevents the photo-oxidation of milk. This is a reaction of various photo-sensitizers which naturally occurs in milk with molecular oxygen and light and which causes the decomposition of nutrients, for example.

Through our special injected neck procedure with its sophisticated cap we also offer you a safe, airtight closure system for your bottles. This also scores as regards sustainability as these closures do not need any aluminum foil under the lid.

You also benefit from our simple yet highly efficient sterilization method for the PET packaging of your sensitive products. This is where our many years of experience in aseptic filling come into play. Profit from recontamination-free filling and packaging in a sterile environment to boost your product safety. Our KHS-specific concepts, which we have specially developed for further improvement, are designed for maximum hygiene, for example through the use of an extremely small aseptic hygienic zone, and a room-within-a-room concept with a hygienic barrier between the operator and the critical zone. Other features beneficial to the safety of your sensitive products include the positive displacement flow process which we have developed, for instance: here, a targeted, sterile flow of air prevents air and microorganisms from entering the aseptic zone from outside.
